How Did This Accident Occur?
I’ve found many times throughout my career that people are more likely to blame people involved in accidents when they’re on a non-typical vehicle as opposed to a car. Folks understand that a lot of things can go wrong on the road. Did a tire blow out? Was the vehicle defective somehow? Was there are unknown hazard that the vehicle came across suddenly? But when the victim is on a tractor, a forklift, a motorcycle, or some other type of machinery, all of that suddenly goes out the window.
I don’t think it should be controversial to say folks should avoid jumping to conclusions if they don’t have all the facts. I see no reason why this accident would be an exception to that. It’s important there’s a proper accident reconstruction both to find out what went wrong and to find out if there’s anything ongoing that needs to be fixed before anyone else gets hurt.
Does that seem fair? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
