Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
As open-and-shut as these details may seem, a multi-vehicle crash is always going to present unique challenges. Authorities tend to prioritize containing and clearing the scene and making sure victims are treated. After that, their priority is to look for charges or citations to issue. For injured victims, though, a citation isn’t exactly going to get them the help they need.
That’s why accident investigations need to be a lot more thorough so that all aspects of what happened and why it happened are explained thoroughly. Maybe authorities have been able to give this crash that sort of attention, but it’s not the sort of thing I’d take for granted.
