Zavala County, TX — January 5, 2024, Hector Montenegro Pizano and one other person were injured in a truck accident shortly after 11:45 p.m. along U.S. Highway 57.
According to reports, 21-year-old Hector Montenegro Pizano was traveling in an eastbound Ford Expedition SUV on U.S. 57 near the entrance to La Mota Ranch when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the SUV failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left, crossing the center line and entering the westbound lane of the highway. This resulted in a collision between the front left of the SUV and the front left of an oncoming tractor-trailer.
Pizano incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck, while the 63-year-old woman who had been the sole occupant of the 18-wheeler sustained reportedly moderate injuries. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
