Austin, TX — August 11, 2025, Hector Martinez Machuca, Adam Chow, and a young girl were killed in a shooting at Target off Research Boulevard.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened at the Target off Research and Ohlen Road in north Austin.
Initial reports said that at 2:15 p.m. outside the Target, 24-year-old Hector Martinez Machuca was working, gathering carts at the time. 65-year-old Adam Chow, his wife, and his 4-year-old granddaughter were in their vehicle. Authorities say that a man shot Hector Martinez Machuca, Adam Chow, and Chow’s granddaughter. All three were killed.
The shooter reportedly fled the scene, but authorities ultimately apprehended him. The shooter faces charges for murder.

I can only hope that authorities didn’t simply file charges and move on. A senseless shooting warrants as thorough an investigation as possible to consider all of the contributing factors so there can be accountability to the fullest extent of the law.
