El Paso, TX — July 21, 2025, Hector Gonzalez was killed as the result of a work accident that took place at a Fort Bliss detention facility.
According to preliminary details about the accident, it happened on the grounds of the recently built Camp East Montana migrant detention facility.

It’s been months since this incident occurred, and I don’t see any more information about what went wrong. People might think the family is at least given more information behind the scenes. That isn’t always true.
I’ve been handling fatal work accident cases for over 30 years now. Families are often just as in the dark as the rest of the general public. That’s why many decide to bring in independent professionals to investigate things so they can work toward an actual just resolution.
It’s possible authorities here have been more thorough behind the scenes to get answers for the victim’s family. That’s just not something I’d ever take for granted.
