Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People often think car accidents are simple just because they’re common. However, ask any family that’s had their lives turned upside-down by one, and they’ll tell you the opposite. They present unique challenges, and there’s no real one-size-fits-all approach. However, there is something that does remain consistent between every serious accident I’ve handled throughout my career: The more evidence people have telling the story, the better their outcomes are likely to be.
That’s why one of the first things I focus on is finding out how thorough the authorities have been in their investigations. If it seems they’re asking all the right questions and dedicating enough time and resources to a crash, that’s a good sign they’re focused on gathering the facts. But if they’re only considering surface-level details and moving on to other responsibilities too quickly, getting the family the answers they need might require efforts from more thorough independent investigators.
