Accident Report
April 4, 2026, two people were killed in a head-on car accident that happened around 2:30 p.m. along Grand Parkway.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened in the area of Community Drive, south of New Caney.
According to officials, a 35-year-old New Caney man was in a GMC Sierra going northbound along the highway. A 61-year-old Corrigan woman was in a Chrysler Pacifica van going southbound. The van reportedly lost control, and it crashed head-on with the GMC.
Due to the accident, both drivers were killed. Authorities said that slick roads may have been a factor in the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s possible that slick roads contributed to this accident. That’s for the investigations to say. My concern, though, is sometimes weather conditions can be a red herring for investigators if they’re not careful.
I can’t begin to count how many police reports I’ve looked at where authorities described how wet the roads were, but they never talked about inspecting vehicles for defects, looking at their tires, pulling vehicle data, looking for cameras near the crash scene, or other factors that are often a lot more important for a proper accident reconstruction.
My hope is authorities mentioned the roads as a preliminary detail but dug much deeper in their investigations since the crash. My experience, however, tells me not to take that kind of thing for granted.
If anyone has information about this crash they think should have been included in the news, let me know in the comments.
