Accident Report
St. Paul, MN — April 21, 2026, Guillermina Nunez was injured in a truck accident at about 2:30 p.m. on Lafayette Freeway/U.S. Route 52.
Authorities said a tanker truck crashed into another semi-truck that was slowing for traffic near Plato Boulevard. The collision forced the truck to collide with a 2013 Infiniti JX35.
The Infiniti driver, 45-year-old Guillermina Gama Nunez, was seriously injured in the crash, according to authorities.
Neither truck driver was injured, authorities said.
The tanker truck driver, a 38-year-old man from Sioux Falls, SD, is not facing any charges in connection with the crash at this time, according to authorities.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Ramsey County crash.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It would be natural to assume the tanker truck driver just wasn’t paying attention to the road in front of him, but I’ve been part of enough accident investigations in my career to know it is better to rely on facts than assumptions.
What if the semi-truck that was slowing down did not have functioning brake lights? Or what if the tanker truck had a problem with its brakes? There are legitimate possibilities that must be addressed by investigators.
They can start with witness statements, video footage and data from the trucks, but an outside expert may be needed to determine if the tanker truck had a problem with its brakes. Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for that kind of examination, in my experience, but the injured woman and her family deserve to know exactly what happened on U.S. 52.
