Houston, TX — January 3, 2025, Guadalupe Gonzales was killed as the result of a workplace accident that happened around noon along Old Industrial Road.

According to OSHA officials, the incident took place just off the corner of Old Industrial Road and Federal Road.

In their inspection summary, OSHA said that 56-year-old Guadalupe Gonzales and other workers were doing support structure repair work. While doing so, it appears Guadalupe Gonzales fell from the roof, resulting in fatal injuries.

The OSHA report listed three alleged violation citations, two of which were labeled as “serious.” They also recommended a penalty. It appears the OSHA case has been closed.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

People might think that OSHA closing their case means this whole situation is wrapped up. The reality is OSHA investigations are often just one part of a much more complex process for the families of a worker killed on the job. Texas has the most complex work fatality laws of any other state in the country. That means it can take significant steps to actually get families a fair resolution, as that path isn’t always guaranteed. So while OSHA may be finished here, it’s possible the family still has yet to see a resolution for their own needs.
