Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

It’s important to take early details about single-vehicle wrecks with a grain of salt, even if they seem likely. Authorities don’t always take single-vehicle wrecks seriously, and that can lead to incomplete or misleading reports.

In fact, a significant amount of the calls I get are from families who lost a loved one in a crash like this because they felt they weren’t getting the whole story. The victim isn’t around to tell their side of things, so that only makes getting evidence that much more important. It could be that evidence shows this all was due to common, predictable reasons. Or, this could all be an unusual set of circumstances beyond the scope of a standard police investigation. At the end of the day, the facts need to speak for themselves, and that isn’t likely to happen so soon after a deadly car accident.
