Placer County, CA — December 14, 2023, two people were killed in a gravel truck accident at approximately 7:15 in the morning along State Route 49.
According to authorities, a dump truck hauling gravel—which was occupied by two people—was traveling on northbound S.R. 49 approaching the El Dorado Street intersection when the accident took place.
For as yet unknown reasons, the truck experienced alleged mechanical issues of some kind; it was reportedly unable to stop at the intersection before colliding with an embankment and spilling its load of gravel across the roadway. The 68-year-old driver of the truck and the passenger both incurred fatal injuries as a result of the incident; they were declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
