Ector County, TX — August 2, 2025, a teenager was killed as the result of a car accident at around 5:56 a.m. along Farm-to-Market 866.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened northwest of Odessa off Y T Ranch Road 5501.
Investigators said that a 17-year-old boy from Goldsmith was in a Chrysler traveling northbound on FM 866. The vehicle reportedly lost control, resulting in a crash. The teenager reportedly was killed in the crash.

One of my main concerns with any crash involving a teen driver is whether or not authorities are being fair in their investigations. That’s especially true when the victim isn’t around to give their side of the story. The unfortunate reality is authorities are often quick to assume a teen driver did something wrong. Even if mistakes happen, a family deserves to know they’re getting the full story. That requires thorough investigations into even unlikely possible contributing factors. Hopefully authorities handling this crash made sure to address all the family’s concerns and not leave them with any unanswered questions.
