Cass County, TX — January 4, 2024, a Georgia man was fatally injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 3:45 a.m. on U.S. Highway 59.
According to officials, the crash took place along the highway in the area of County Road 1921.
Investigators said in their initial statements that a 40-year-old man from Riverdale, Georgia, was in a Freightliner tractor-trailer going southbound along the highway. For reasons which are unclear, the truck veered to the left, went across the median, went across oncoming lanes, then ran off-road. There, the truck crashed into a tree and caught fire.
Following the crash, the Georgia truck driver was pronounced deceased. There did not appear to be anyone else in the truck. Authorities mentioned no other vehicles being involved in the crash. Right now, additional details are unavailable.
