Austin, TX — August 11, 2023, George Smith and one other were injured following a car accident at around 7:00 a.m. along East Parmer Lane.
Preliminary statements about the crash say that it occurred off the corner of East Parmer Lane and the Tollway 130 service road.
According to public information from officials, 57-year-old George Carl Smith was in a Honda Ridgeline going northbound on Parmer at the time. Statements given to officers indicate a southbound GMC pickup left the Parmer and Tollway 130 intersection and allegedly got up to an estimated 80 MPH. The pickup then lost control and swerved onto the median before overturning into northbound lanes. There, Smith’s Honda crashed into the pickup.
As a result of the collision, authorities say that Smith and the other driver had serious injuries. Authorities also mentioned the possibility the GMC’s tires were worn, possibly contributing to the crash. No charges or citations were reported.
