How Did This Accident Occur?
I certainly don’t know anything more about this specific accident, but any fatal work accident in Texas is going to raise challenges for the worker’s loved ones. Finding how the accident happened is often just the first step of many families will likely have to take. That’s because Texas has the most complex work fatality laws of any other state in the country.
Despite what many believe, there isn’t always an automatic process to get a worker’s family a fair resolution. It may be entirely up to the employer how to address the situation, and families may need professional help to advocate for a resolution that’s fair and just. So as OSHA continues to focus on their own priorities, it’s important that someone is looking out for the needs of the family, as well. Otherwise, they could find themselves facing a legal maze with little to no direction.
