Accident Report
Coke County, TX — July 17, 2026, Gael Ortiz-Hernandez was killed in a truck accident at about 12:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 277 north of Bronte.
Authorities said a northbound 2024 GMC Sierra and a southbound 1993 Peterbilt semi-truck collided head-on, causing the truck to jackknife and catch fire after it ran off the road.
GMC driver Gael Alexis Ortiz-Hernandez, 21, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to the report.
The truck driver was listed as possibly injured, according to a preliminary accident report.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Coke County crash at this time.
