Nissan driver Frankie Jean Elliott, 76, was seriously injured in the crash near Cheek, according to the report.
The Ford driver, who was listed as possibly injured, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and failure to stop and render aid after the crash, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Jefferson County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities likely will determine how this accident unfolded as they gather physical evidence, data from the vehicles and any available video footage of the crash, but their investigation should branch out beyond the scene if tests confirm the Ford driver was intoxicated.
Someone needs to look into where he had been drinking before the crash, because under Texas law alcohol providers like bars or restaurants can share responsibility for injuries caused by a customer who was served while obviously intoxicated. Unless this avenue is investigated, there is no way to know if anyone else may have played a role in this accident.
The Nissan driver and her family deserve to know everyone who may be responsible for this crash.
