Accident Report
November 6, 2025, Francisco Garcia was killed as the result of a work accident that happened along US Highway 67.
In preliminary OSHA statements, officials say the incident happened about a mile southwest of town along the westbound side of the highway.
It appears that 30-year-old Francisco Garcia was on the job when he someone suffered fatal injuries. OSHA did not clarify what happened in the incident. They did not report any recommended citations or penalties.
Investigations are ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
OSHA does not only investigate situations where avoidable, preventable mistakes lead to a worker’s injuries or death. They also report on unavoidable situations, like a medical emergency or defect leading to equipment failure. It’s possible something like that happened here. It’s also possible that an accident can involve mistakes from outside parties besides the worker themselves, their employer, or a co-worker.
For example, if multiple different companies are on a job site, and someone makes a mistake that harms someone from a different company, OSHA might look into that even though the incident may ultimately be treated like any typical negligence accident.
Regardless, Texas has the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country. Despite what many think, there isn’t always an automatic process for getting families answers or benefits. That’s why I tend to see better outcomes when families are proactive to ensure their situation is in the right hands. If there’s ever any doubt that authorities might not be taking the accident seriously or working to get the whole story, that can be a crucial point at which to bring in independent investigators. Whether they reaffirm everything authorities already know or reveal new information that authorities overlooked, the end result should be the family having a clear path between them and a proper resolution.
