Accident Report

March 26, 2026, two people were injured following a firetruck accident at around 1:55 p.m. along Highway 13.

Authorities said that the accident took place several miles west of Branson in the area of State Highway 13 and Trail Ridge Drive.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 53-year-old Galena Man and a 63-year-old Kimberling City Man were in a Ford F-150 traveling eastbound. A GMC Topkick fire department truck was reportedly going southbound. Troopers say that the Ford “entered into the pathway” of the GMC, and the vehicles collided.

Due to the crash, the Kimberling City man from the Ford was seriously injured. The Galena man had reportedly moderate injuries. At this time, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Authorities say the pickup “entered into the path” of the the GMC truck, but it doesn’t explain how exactly that event came to pass. Was the Ford coming from a stop sign? Had they just completed a turn onto the highway? Did the fire department truck have enough time and space to slow down? Have both vehicles been inspected for mechanical issues related to maintenance or manufacturing?

I find that a lot of people look at crashes like the one described here and immediately assume someone was on their phone. Frankly, that’s one of the most common explanations, and it warrants investigation. But I bring up other possibilities to remind folks that there are other possible factors. If investigators don’t consider those other possibilities, then important details may slip through the cracks. Whether it’s through the authorities or through independent professionals, the evidence needs to tell the story.
