Carson County, TX — May 17, 2026, Filemon Palacios-Carpio was killed in a rollover accident just after 7 a.m. on Interstate 40 east of Yarnall.
Authorities said a 2004 Ford Ranger was heading east when it overcorrected after veering into the median. It went off the road and overturned several times as it went down a steep embankment.
Driver Filemon Palacios-Carpio, 23, of Amarillo was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Carson County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Whenever I read about a rollover accident like this, I wonder if the vehicle was designed properly to withstand overturning several times.
Most vehicles offer very little rollover protection because they were designed to pass the government’s safety test, not necessarily protect the driver.
This Ford pickup should be inspected by a qualified expert, preferably in a laboratory setting, to determine if a defect turned a survivable accident into a fatal one.
