How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear at this point why this collision happened. Was the bus driver distracted? Did the bus have an issue with its brakes? Did the truck stop suddenly? Did it have working brake lights? These are the kind of questions that authorities should consider as they work to reconstruct this crash.

Investigators likely will start by gathering physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time of the crash, but a forensic examination will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this accident.

Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for that kind of inspection, but a thorough investigation is needed to provide a clear picture of what happened for those who were hurt in this crash.
