Accident Report
May 24, 2026, Fernando Villa was killed due to a car accident that took place around 9:41 p.m. along US Highway 62.
Initial details about the accident say that the crash happened east of El Paso at the intersection of US 62/US 180/Montana Avenue and Buntline Drive.
According to officials, 33-year-old Fernando Villa was riding a Honda motorcycle northeast on Montana Ave. A Buick LeSabre was going the opposite direction when it reportedly failed to yield making a turn. As a result, the vehicles collided.
Fernando Villa reportedly sustained fatal injuries due to the accident. The other driver had no reported injuries. Authorities reported that they were recommending charges for collision involving death and tampering with evidence. Additional details about those allegations are unavailable right now.
How Did This Accident Occur?
These are obviously serious allegations to go along with the claims that a driver failed to yield and caused this crash. While I don’t know specifically what led to these recommended charges, I’ve often seen authorities do this when drivers remove alcohol from their vehicles, hide drugs, delete things on their phones, try to fix damage to their vehicles, etc.
Maybe one of those things happened here, maybe not. But it’s important that there’s an accident investigation here to preserve all evidence surrounding the crash beyond just what’s relevant to potential criminal charges. If authorities are too focused on their own needs, they may let important evidence slip through the cracks. A family who loses a loved one deserves to know they’re getting the full story, and that isn’t likely to happen if there are things being brushed aside is irrelevant. It would be good to hear, though, if investigators were making sure that doesn’t happen.
