McKinney, TX — May 8, 2024, Fernando Mata was injured following a motorcycle versus car accident shortly before 3:15 p.m. along McDonald Street.
According to authorities, 41-year-old Fernando Mata was traveling on a northbound Honda motorcycle on McDonald Street approaching the Interchange Street intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a westbound Cadillac Escalade SUV on Interchange Street attempted a left turn onto southbound McDonald at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign. This resulted in a collision between the front-end of the motorcycle and the left side of the SUV.
Mata suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
