Harris County, TX — July 11, 2025, one person was killed and one was injured following a shooting incident at around 8:13 p.m. off Sam Houston Tollway.

Police officials say the shooting occurred at Bubba’s 33, located at 3221 East Sam Houston Parkway at Spencer Highway southeast of Houston.

According to current statements, someone at the restaurant opened fire on a customer, shooting them. That customer was killed as a result, police say. A worker was hit by stray gunfire, and they reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooter apparently fled the scene, but authorities say they’ve arrested a suspect. They report pending charges for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Whenever someone is arrested after an incident like this, people often just move on figure things are open-and-shut. However, it’s worth considering whether or not any sort of security could have prevented something like this. Obviously, some situations are just plain unforeseeable and uncontrollable. But if there’s an opportunity to prevent deaths in the future, that should be considered.
