Midland, TX — February 8, 2024, a student was killed as a result of a hit-and-run pedestrian versus car accident just after 4:30 p.m. along N. Lamesa Road.
According to authorities, a student was on foot attempting to cross North Lamesa Road in the vicinity north of East Front Street when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the minor was struck by a passing truck. The person(s) inside the truck allegedly fled the scene, neglecting to stop and render aid of any kind to the victim. The student incurred reportedly critical injuries an was rushed to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. However, they were ultimately unable to over come their injuries, having later been declared deceased.
A suspect in this hit-and-run incident is reportedly in police custody, reports state. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
