Houston, TX — December 22, 2023, a woman was killed as the result of an alleged intoxicated driver accident at around 2:25 a.m. on the North Freeway.
Authorities said in their preliminary statements that the crash occurred on a stretch of Interstate 45 at the North Main Street overpass.
According to Houston and Harris County officials, a 35-year-old woman, yet to be publicly identified, was a passenger in a Chevy Tahoe that was going northbound on I-45. That vehicle apparently lost control and crashed into a barrier along the side of the road before then hitting a pillar. As a result of the crash, the woman in the Tahoe succumbed to her injuries. The driver, a 36-year-old man, had apparently minor injuries, according to authorities.
Statements at this time show that the man driving the Tahoe is accused of driving while intoxicated when the crash happened. There appear to be pending charges for intoxication manslaughter. Investigations are ongoing.
