Corpus Christi, TX — May 26, 2024, a man was killed following an alleged intoxicated driver accident at around 12:30 a.m. along Ayers Street.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened at the intersection of Ayers Street and Baldwin Boulevard.

Investigators say that a Cadillac SUV was going southbound on Ayers at the time. Crossing Baldwin, the vehicle left its lane, hit the curb, and went off-road. There, the SUV hit a traffic control box and a signal pole. Due to the crash, authorities say a 55-year-old man riding in the SUV sustained fatal injuries.

The driver was allegedly intoxicated at the time, and they recommended a charge for intoxication manslaughter. If those allegations are true, there could still be more to this story. If alcohol was the intoxicant, that could mean there’s also a negligent alcohol provider responsible for contributing to the accident. When an alcohol provider illegally over-serves someone, they can be subject to criminal investigations, fines, license suspensions, and even liability for resulting injury or death. Is that something authorities are looking into here?
