How Did This Accident Occur?
In my job, I’ve seen dozens of wrong-way crashes like this. Most people usually assume alcohol played a role when someone starts driving in the wrong lanes on the interstate, but what if the signs directing traffic onto I-40 were damaged or missing? What if the 81-year-old Hyundai driver was confused and took the wrong route to enter the highway? What if the Hyundai had an issue with its lane departure warning system, and the driver couldn’t steer it into the proper place? These scenarios may not be likely, but they do happen.
Authorities need to investigate this crash thoroughly so those who are grieving can get the answers they deserve about how this crash happened.
