Brazoria County, TX — February 20, 2024, Esperanza Cornejo was injured in a pedestrian versus car accident just before 10:30 a.m. along Broadway Street.
According to authorities, a Chevy Tahoe was traveling northbound in the parking lot of a department store on the corner of Broadway Street and Smith Ranch Road when the accident occurred.
The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Officials indicate that as the Tahoe attempted a left turn in front of the store, it apparently struck 56-year-old Esperanza Cornejo, who was on foot in the parking lot. Cornejo incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. She was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
