Ernesto Enrique Hernandez Killed in Hit-and-run Accident in Leander, TX

It appears that 58-year-old Ernesto Enrique Hernandez was on a motorcycle which was reportedly going northbound on U.S. 183. While doing so, authorities say a Kia Forte also going northbound hit the motorcycle from behind, knocking it over and ejecting Hernandez into the roadway. As a result of the accident, Hernandez sustained fatal injuries.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

The Kia that hit Hernandez allegedly left the scene, but details suggest authorities identified the driver. There is also information that authorities recommended charges for accident involving death. What I have yet to see, however, is if authorities learned why the driver left the scene. It’s usually not the crash itself they’re avoiding but rather other things they don’t want authorities to know about, such as warrants, drugs, or drunk driving. Not only could there be issues still needing to be addressed, bu also the victim’s loved ones simply deserve to know they’re getting the full story. Did authorities see to that already, or did they overlook something?
