Hidalgo, TX — February 23, 2024, Erika Yamilex Hernandez was injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 1:00 p.m. on East Dalia Avenue.
Initial details about the crash from authorities indicate it happened in the area of East Dalia Avenue and South 2nd Street.
According to officials, 24-year-old Erika Yamilex Hernandez was in a Toyota Highlander going southbound along 2nd Street. At Dalia, it appears an eastbound Chevy Tahoe went through the stop sign, and the vehicles collided. Hernandez was injured as a result, authorities said.

It’s alleged that the Tahoe driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Folks generally only expect to see those kinds of allegations late at night or early in the morning. But the reality is drunk driving happens at all times of the day. Authorities, too, would likely find alcohol providers breaking the law in the morning, afternoon, and early evening if they made sure to find where a drunk driver got their alcohol prior to a serious drunk driving wreck.
