Accident Report
May 2, 2026, Erick Sanches was injured following a car accident that happened around 4:00 a.m. along Beltway 8.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened on eastbound lanes of Sam Houston Tollway, west of Almeda Road.
According to officials, a 42-year-old woman and 32-year-old Erick Sanches were in a Mini Cooper going eastbound on the tollway. A Chevy Silverado was going the same direction. That vehicle reportedly failed to stay in its lane, and the vehicles collided as a result.
Reports show that Erick Sanches was seriously injured in the crash. No other injuries were reported. Authorities say that the Chevy Silverado driver had been drinking, but further information is unconfirmed.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It obviously raises serious red flags that authorities believe alcohol was involved in this crash. That would obviously warrant investigations into where that alcohol came from and if a local bar or other provider unlawfully over-served that driver. However, authorities did not confirm that intoxication was the cause of the crash. That’s why it’s always important to focus on gathering evidence after any serious crash.
I’ve seen less experienced attorneys, for example, see alcohol mentioned in a report, go full speed ahead assuming everything will be open-and-shut, and then fail to produce enough evidence to even confirm that alcohol contributed to the crash. Success is far more likely when you treat something like “had been drinking” as a part of the much larger picture.
By gathering as much evidence as possible and letting that evidence speak for itself, there can be a proper conclusion, regardless of whether or not alcohol was the direct cause of the accident. Are those steps being taken here?
