San Antonio, TX — July 19, 2025, Eric Vargas Martinez was killed and two were injured after a car versus pedestrian accident around midnight on US 90.
Officials say that the accident happened in west San Antonio near the intersection of US 90 and Loop 410.
According to investigators, 38-year-old Eric Vargas Martinez was on foot at the time in the area of US 90. While walking, it appears an eastbound Nissan Altima struck Eric Vargas Martinez. Due to this, Eric Vargas Martinez reportedly was killed.
Two people from the vehicle apparently had minor injuries. Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

People too often write off pedestrian accidents because they’re seen as open-and-shut. In reality, all kinds of possible factors need to be considered. That could even include things like road design, medical conditions, signage and lighting, and other potential factors. Otherwise, something important could slip through the cracks. If authorities can’t reassure a family that they’re getting the full story, then they may not be giving the accident the attention it deserves.
