Some people might see that one truck was reportedly stopped partially in a lane of travel and think that makes all this open-and-shut. However, these accidents can involve a lot of different factors which all deserve attention. How fast was traffic moving? Was the stopped truck clearly marked? Did it experience an unforeseeable mechanical issue, or did it stop for predictable and avoidable reasons? Was the first truck going at appropriate speeds? Was the driver being attentive? Were there circumstances regarding either driver’s employer which contributed to the crash? Likely or not, these questions can be crucial for understanding the full context of what went wrong. As such, investigations need to be thorough and consider things from all angles.
