Houston, TX — August 8, 2025, Efrain De La Torre Coronado was killed due to an alleged hit-and-run accident around 3:10 a.m. on I-45.
Initial details from officials say that the accident happened along southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway near Spur 5.
Harris County officials said that 36-year-old Efrain De La Torre Coronado was on a bicycle along the Gulf Freeway. While there, a southbound vehicle struck De La Torre Coronado. The vehicle then reportedly left the scene.
Due to the collision, Efrain De La Torre Coronado sustained fatal injuries. Authorities have not reported if they’ve located the driver involved in the accident. Additional details are unavailable.
