Accident Report
Porter, TX — April 19, 2026, Edwin Morales was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 2:20 a.m. on F.M. 1314.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2012 Ford F-350 was heading north in the southbound lanes of F.M. 1314 when it crashed head-on with a 2013 Ford Escape just north of Grand Parkway/State Highway 99.
SUV driver Edwin Morales, 48, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.
The pickup driver, who was not injured, was charged with driving while intoxicated, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Montgomery County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It is not clear at this point how the pickup driver ended up going the wrong way on F.M. 1314, a divided road, but to me there is larger question if blood tests prove he was intoxicated: Where did he get his alcohol?
It’s one thing if he had been drinking at home, but if he had been at a bar or restaurant that may mean more people share the blame for this crash. Under Texas law, alcohol providers share responsibility for any injuries caused by a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated.
I don’t know if that is what happened before this accident, but it bears investigating so the injured driver and his family will know who may have played a role in this crash.
