Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Finding out the cause of a crash is obviously important, but something to consider is that the cause of someone’s injuries may be something unique. For example, it stands out to me that only one person was reportedly injured here. Generally speaking, when two similar-sized vehicle collide, the people involved are likely to sustain similar injuries. One person being seriously hurt while everyone else is fine could be a sign something which was designed to protect the victim failed to do so, such as a faulty seatbelt or airbag. As unlikely as a defect like that may be, it would be irresponsible if investigators didn’t at least consider this possibility.
