Accident Report
Pulaski County, AR — March 4, 2026, Eduardo Cavazos was killed in a truck accident at about 10 p.m. on Interstate 40 east of North Little Rock.
Authorities said eastbound traffic was stopped near mile marker 164 because of an earlier accident when a 2021 Kenworth semi-truck crashed into a 2019 Freightliner semi-truck, starting a chain reaction of collisions that damaged two other vehicles.
Kenworth driver Eduardo Rangel Cavazos, 49, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Pulaski County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When a semi-truck rear-ends another one on an interstate, it’s understandable that most folks would blame the truck driver that rear-ended the other truck. But what if the stopped truck, a Freightliner in this instance, did not have working brake lights? That would make it awfully hard to see on the darkened highway.
Or maybe the first truck, a Kenworth, had some sort of mechanical problem that affected its brakes or steering ability? Then accountability could fall on whoever is responsible for maintaining the truck.
Investigators should reconstruct the crash by poring over witness statements, evidence from the scenes and data from the trucks’ engine control modules. There might even be dashcam footage, since fleets are increasing adding such technology to their trucks.
