If the allegations here are true, I haven’t seen authorities mention anything about where the supposed alcohol came from. This is something that too often goes overlooked. A lot of alcohol-related accidents involve drivers who were unlawfully over-served by an alcohol provider. As much as folks call for drunk drivers to face consequences, there should be just as much motivation to see the negligent alcohol providers who over-serve them face consequences, as well. But I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, and authorities routinely charge drivers, then move on without so much as considering if there’s a bar that needs to be held accountable. Maybe authorities were more thorough here, but the details have yet to show that.
