How Did This Accident Occur?

People generally assume single-vehicle accidents happen when a driver screws up. Unfortunately, people also tend to assume the worst of motorcycle riders. So people reading about this crash may have already made up their mind that the victim must have done something wrong. To be clear, I’m not going to pretend like drivers and motorcyclists don’t make mistakes—they obviously do. But in my experience, motorcyclists are often safe drivers who get a bad rap and are unfairly blamed for things they couldn’t actually avoid. If that’s what happened here, it might take independent investigations to dig into the facts and clear things up unless authorities have been unusually thorough on their own.

If anyone witnessed what happened here, is there something authorities haven’t said that should be known? Let me know in the comments.
