How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s easy to assume driver fatigue caused a crash at 4:30 in the morning, but I’ve been enough of enough accident investigations in my career to know that settling for the easy answers isn’t the same as finding the right one.
Maybe the driver was tired at the time of this accident, but what if another vehicle forced the pickup off the road? Or what is the Ford had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? The best way to sort that out is to complete a full investigation; one based on facts, not assumptions.
Evidence from the scene, witness statements, data from the pickup, cell phone records and any available video of the crash should help authorities reconstruct this accident. If investigators suspect a mechanical defect contributed to this crash, an outside expert may be needed to perform a forensic examination of pickup, since in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such exams.
A thorough investigation will provide answers to any lingering questions plaguing the injured men and their families after this crash.
