Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
One of my main concerns with any motorcycle wreck is that people often jump to conclusions rather than letting the evidence speak for itself. A lot of people are biased against motorcyclists, and this can lead them to blame riders without really having the facts to back them up. Even authorities can fall into this trap.
For example, I’ve had cases where a family wanted a second opinion because authorities blamed a motorcyclist for a crash despite them being known as a safe driver. Sure enough, evidence would come to light showing authorities either made a mistake or just jumped to conclusions without doing proper investigations.
It’s certainly possible authorities have been able to handle this accident carefully and without bias. In my experience, though, taking that for granted only risks letting important details slip through the cracks.
