Accident Report
April 24, 2026, a woman was injured as the result of a dump truck versus flagger accident at around 11:00 a.m. along Broadway.
According to officials, the accident happened at the Broadway and East Pine Street intersection in Capitol Hill.
Authorities said that a 70-year-old woman was working as a traffic flagger for a private company. While doing so, a dump truck somehow hit the woman. The woman was injured as a result.
Right now, additional details about the accident are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
In my experience, a crash like this is usually going to involve inattentive driving. If someone is working as a flagger, they’ll typically be equipped with high visibility vests, not to mention whatever they’re using to actually flag down vehicles. Now, could there be other explanations? Of course. Maybe the woman was not provided proper equipment. Perhaps the flagger entered the road without enough time for the truck driver to stop. But it could also be that the driver was busy looking at their phone. Or maybe they were just too lacks, and they weren’t watching their surroundings.
One thing I wonder is if authorities looked for any nearby cameras. Big cities often have cameras all over the place, and the video may be time-sensitive if the system routinely deletes or overwrites older footage. Securing video early on would be a crucial piece of evidence in finding out what happened here and how it all could have been avoided.
If anyone out there lives or works in this area, have you seen this woman working before? What do you think happened here? Let me know in the comments.
