Orange County, TX — October 29, 2024, a driver was injured following a dump truck accident at around 6:42 a.m. at a sand pit off I-10.
Authorities say that the truck accident happened several miles east of Beaumont at 22382 I-10, near Highland Street.
According to officials, a 78-year-old driver was in a dump truck at Ross Ridge Sand. While working, the truck somehow ended up crashing into a “private lake.” Emergency responders were able to transport the driver from the scene with unspecified injuries. There did not appear to be any other injuries.
Right now, the cause of the crash remains unclear.

There are many ways that an accident like this can prove to be a lot more challenging than folks realize. For one, it may be a work accident. Texas happens to have the most complex work injury laws of any other state. Workers are not always guaranteed to receive benefits automatically, and that can lead to them or their loved ones opposite a company doing everything in their power to ensure they’re not responsible.
On top of that, there are possible contributing factors a typical accident reconstruction may overlook. Were there issues with this property that led to the accident? Did the truck have some kind of vehicle defect? Was the equipment being misused? Was it in need of repairs? Were there any others working in the area that contributed to the accident? Likely or not, it’s important to have a clear picture of how everything could have been avoided. Whatever next steps are available to someone hurt in an accident like this, they’re best bet is to take those steps with as much evidence in-hand as possible.
