How Did This Accident Occur?

I certainly don’t know more about this accident than what little OSHA gave in their public reporting. I just hope they’ve been more open and informative behind the scenes with this worker’s loved ones. It would surprise folks how often families call me months after losing a loved one to a work fatality only to have the same unanswered questions they were asking on day one.

Simply put, OSHA tends to focus on their own priorities. Meanwhile, families are left to navigate the most unique and challenging work fatality laws in the whole country. When there’s no guarantee of a resolution, it’s important for families to have the evidence and the tools needed to navigate Texas work fatality laws and get a resolution that’s just and fair. If OSHA has been able to provide those things, that would be good to know. However, I rarely see that happen without independent professionals stepping in to get the ball rolling.
