Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Authorities never mentioned if they found out why this crash occurred, and that can lead to drastically different avenues. For example, a driver on their phone may simply receive a citation. A driver under the influence of alcohol could face serious charges, and there could even be a local alcohol provider on the hook if they over-served that driver. And a driver whose brakes failed could involve a negligent repair shop or even a manufacturer who sold a defective product.

Too often, people think authorities either charge the driver or don’t, and that’s the end of the story. But there are a lot of possibilities to consider before anyone can truly say they’re getting the whole story.
