Dickinson, TX — December 17, 2024, Dislay Diaz Revoredo was killed following a work accident at around 1:50 p.m. along Interstate 45.

According to initial details about the accident, it happened off the corner of I-45 and F.M. 517.

Details are limited at this time, but it appears that 46-year-old Dislay Diaz Revoredo was on a work site when a boom truck “fell.” As a result, it landed on Diaz Revoredo. Diaz Revoredo was killed as a result. There did not appear to be any other injuries.

Right now, the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Obviously, it will be important for investigators to find out exactly what went wrong here. But beyond that, Texas also has the most complex work fatality laws of any other firm in the state. In Texas, employers are not required to subscribe to the workers’ comp system. As a result, some families assume there is an automatic process for getting much needed benefits when they lose a loved one on the job. But if the employer is a non-subscriber, there is no guaranteed path. Instead, the family must ensure they have the evidence, allies, and legal strategy at their disposal so they can fight for a just and fair resolution. Right now, I see no reason why this accident would be an exception to all of that.
