Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With such serious allegations, if they prove to be true, then this all may seem pretty open-and-shut. But I have yet to see if authorities are looking into any accomplices in regards to this accident. Whenever alcohol contributes to an accident, it could mean the drunk driver was unlawfully over-served by a bar or a similar establishment. Those negligent establishments can also be held responsible when their actions contribute to accidents.

Unfortunately, it’s not unusual for negligent alcohol providers to slip through the cracks. Authorities have a lot on their plates. Once there’s a driver facing charges, they may move on to other responsibilities too hastily. As a result, the negligent alcohol providers who also broke the law and got people hurt may get off scot-free unless victims and families are pursuing other avenues to see them held accountable.
