El Paso County, TX — June 10, 2024, Derek Perez and a minor were injured following a car accident at approximately 12:30 p.m. along North Loop.
According to authorities, 18-year-old Derek Perez and a 14-year-old boy were traveling in a northbound Dodge Challenger on Horizon Boulevard at the North Loop intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a Ford F-150 on Horizon attempted a left turn onto North Loop at the same time, failing to yield the right of way while turning left. This resulted in a collision between the two vehicles in the intersection. The collision caused the Charger to lose control and crash into a signal light pole.
Perez and the boy who was with him in the Charger incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck; they were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
