Hale County, TX — April 12, 2024, one person was killed while Deja Garcia and two others were injured in a wrong-way car accident at 6:30 a.m. on I.H. 27.
According to authorities, a 25-year-old man and 25-year-old Deja Garcia were traveling in a northbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Interstate Highway 27 in the vicinity south of U.S. Highway 70 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a Ford Ecosport occupied by a 25-year-old woman was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway. This resulted in a head-on collision between the Ford and the Silverado. The collision caused the Ecosport to veer to the left, entering the path of and colliding with a northbound Chevrolet Tracker SUV occupied by a 54-year-old man. The secondary collision caused the Ecosport to leave the roadway where it overturned, crashing into a road sign and coming to a stop resting on its left side.
The 25-year-old woman from the Ecosport suffered reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. Garcia incurred severe injuries, the man from the Tracker was moderately hurt, and the 25-year-old man from the Silverado received minor injuries.
